What is the concept of Allied Goat and Agro Farm?
At present we are commercially into goat farming and not associated with other agro activities commercially so we can speak on goat farming for now. In goat farming, we are working on breeding and rearing of various Indian goat breeds. Resulting in which the local farmers can get the other states breeds easily available breeds in Maharashtra .. and same for Qurbani bucks as well at the time of Eid.
Yes, Surely it is if done n managed in proper way. Breeding needs proper record keeping and giving personal attention to goats right from mating them and taking good care in pregnancy till they give birth to kid.
How many females Goats and breeding bucks do you have at your farm?
Parent breeding stock at our farm is approximately 50-60. We have various breeding bucks as well in order to get best possible results.
Approximately, how many male and female goats are born at your farm annually?
Approx 50-70 kids are born on an average annually. The gender ratio is not fixed. Sometimes we get 70-80% males and sometimes vice versa.
What is the average selling price of a goat kid?
It totally depends on breed and quality of the goats. The kids of low age with maximum growth having pure breed characteristics in maximum proportion fetches good high amount. Average cost for sale at our farm varies from 10000-30000.
Alhamdulillah there's no mortality at our farm. Last year it was 1% . We believe to work on zero mortality Work system at our farm due to which we run our farm with profitability. Exactly can't say about other farms but anywhere below 5% could be considered good enough for any breeding farm. As if it goes beyond this our whole tenure of 8 months goes in vain for that goat and we engage in huge losses thereafter.
What's your mode of advertising?
Mouth Publicity is best customer converting publicity according to me. We are also using Fb, Instagram, Youtube and WhatsApp for our advertisements.
Now a days changing environmental conditions is worst farmers are facing these days due to which they are facing huge shortage in fodder cultivation and huge increase in grains and concentrates prices. Due to change in climates comes in the virals which is again headache for goat farmers today.
Not exactly for big farms. Though the government comes out with few goat farming schemes periodically, they are allotted for new comers with 10+1 qty that too with local breeds, but the way the help comes is not at all sufficient for a proper goat farming business. Our government seriously need to think and work on this now onwards as demand is increasing day by day and supplies are short which results in hike in prices.
What's your message to all the aspiring goat farmers?
Well, work honestly. Keep a bulls eye on all your expenses. Work on running farm on minimum expenses with providing best healthy food and friendly shelter with zero mortality. For new comers, do u purchases right with right people and right place who can support you in every terms after you purchase ur goats from them which helps new comers to sustain quickly with out much barriers.
